Char Dham trip — FAQs
Quick answers before you plan.
When is the best time for Char Dham Yatra?
The temples usually open in late April/May (around Akshaya Tritiya) and close around Diwali–Bhai Dooj in October/November. May–June and mid-September to October are the most comfortable months; the monsoon (July–August) can bring landslides on hill roads.
How many days does the Char Dham Yatra take?
By road from Haridwar or Rishikesh, a comfortable Char Dham Yatra takes 9–12 days. A Do Dham yatra (Kedarnath + Badrinath) takes about 5–6 days, and a helicopter yatra can cover all four dhams in 5–6 days.
Is registration compulsory for the yatra?
Yes. The Uttarakhand government requires every pilgrim to register for the Char Dham Yatra before travelling. Your travel expert will help you complete it.
Is the yatra suitable for senior citizens?
Yes, with good planning. Ponies, palkis (dolis) and helicopter options are available for the Kedarnath and Yamunotri treks. We recommend a medical check-up before travelling to high altitude.
What is usually included in the package?
Packages usually include hotel stays, meals as per the plan, transport by car or tempo traveller, and sightseeing. Pony, palki or helicopter tickets are usually extra — your expert shares the exact inclusions in the quote.
